Follow these steps to set up your Magni Heretic:

The large knob on the front panel controls the output volume for both the headphone output and the RCA preamp outputs. Rotate clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease it.

The Magni Heretic features a three-position gain switch on the front panel to optimize performance for different headphones:
- Low Gain (-10dB): Ideal for highly sensitive headphones or In-Ear Monitors (IEMs) to prevent hiss and provide finer volume control.
- Medium Gain (0dB): Suitable for most standard headphones.
- High Gain (+15dB): Recommended for power-hungry headphones, such as high-impedance dynamic headphones or planar magnetics, to ensure sufficient power and dynamics.
Recommendation: Start with Low Gain and increase if necessary. If you find yourself turning the volume knob past 12 o'clock for comfortable listening, consider switching to a higher gain setting.

The RCA Outputs on the rear panel allow the Magni Heretic to function as a preamplifier. This means you can connect it to powered speakers or a separate power amplifier to control their volume. The volume knob and gain settings will affect both the headphone output and the preamp outputs simultaneously.
