4. Setup and Cuff Placement

Proper cuff placement is crucial for accurate blood pressure readings.

1. Select the Correct Cuff Size: Ensure the cuff size is appropriate for the arm circumference. The McKesson Adult Cuff is designed for arm circumferences of 23-40 cm. Refer to the cuff sizing chart below.
2. Prepare the Arm: Sit comfortably with your arm resting on a flat surface at heart level. Ensure the arm is bare or has only thin clothing. Avoid taking measurements after strenuous activity, bathing, or consuming caffeine/alcohol.
3. Apply the Cuff: Wrap the cuff firmly around the upper arm, approximately 1 inch (2-3 cm) above the elbow joint. The artery mark on the cuff should be aligned with your brachial artery (typically on the inside of the arm). The index line should fall within the range lines on the cuff.

Follow these steps to take a blood pressure reading using your McKesson Aneroid Sphygmomanometer. A stethoscope (not included) is required to listen for Korotkoff sounds.
