The ABUS 55/40 padlock is ready for immediate use out of the box. No assembly is required.

1. אַנלאַקינג: Insert one of the provided keys into the keyway at the bottom of the padlock body. Turn the key clockwise until the shackle springs open.
2. Locking (with key): Close the shackle by pushing it down into the padlock body. Turn the key counter-clockwise to secure the shackle. Remove the key.
3. Locking (self-locking): For quick locking, simply push the shackle firmly down into the padlock body until it clicks into place. The padlock will be secured without needing to turn the key.

To operate your ABUS 55/40 padlock:

• Ensure the shackle is fully extended when unlocked.
• Position the padlock around the items or through the hasp you wish to secure.
• Push the shackle down firmly until it clicks, or insert the key and turn to lock.
• Always remove the key after locking to prevent loss or unauthorized access.

Proper maintenance will extend the life and ensure the smooth operation of your padlock:

  • Check for any debris or foreign objects in the keyway.
  • Apply a small amount of graphite powder or lock lubricant into the keyway and gently work the key in and out.
• Shackle does not open or close smoothly:
